Law Firm Shareholder Can't Sue For Sex Bias: Judge

Law360, New York (November 4, 2009, 2:45 PM EST) -- A federal judge has nixed a female shareholder's sex bias suit against Dickie McCamey & Chilcote PC, finding that she isn't an employee entitled to protection under anti-discrimination laws.

Judge Arthur J. Schwab of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania granted summary judgment to Pittsburgh-based Dickie McCamey on Oct. 28, ruling that shareholder Alyson Kirleis is an employer rather than an employee and thus can't sue the firm for sexual discrimination.
