Japan Blocks Imports Of Samsung Plasma Displays In Patent Dispute With Fujitsu

Law360, New York (April 21, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Japanese customs authorities on Wednesday began blocking imports of plasma-display panels manufactured by a Samsung Group company on a request from Fujitsu in a dispute over patent rights.

Fujitsu had asked for administrative injunctive relief under a Japanese customs and tariffs law, which prohibits importation of products that infringe Japanese patents.

Earlier this month, the company filed lawsuits in Tokyo and Los Angeles against two units of South Korea's Samsung Electronics, alleging infringement of patents related to plasma display panels, the company said Wednesday.
