Barrett Asks Questions On Abortion, Precedent At Hearing

By Jimmy Hoover (November 5, 2020, 12:31 AM EST) -- Now on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Amy Coney Barrett is no longer shying away from the controversial subjects that dominated her confirmation hearings, bringing up the issue of abortion, and the fate of a key First Amendment precedent, in an LGBTQ rights hearing Wednesday.

Hearing just her third day of oral arguments Wednesday, Justice Barrett asked probing questions of both sides in the case Fulton v. City of Philadelphia, about whether the city violated the First Amendment when it cut ties with a Catholic foster care agency for refusing to place children with same-sex couples.
