Family Sues Wal-Mart, MetLife Over Denial Of Benefits

Law360 (November 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Claiming their loved one’s death was accidental, family members of a Wal-Mart Stores Inc. employee who died after ingesting prescription drugs for back pain have filed suit against the retailer and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after the insurer denied them life insurance benefits.

The mother and cousin of Carroll Conklin filed the lawsuit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleging that MetLife’s denial of benefits was without merit.
