U.S. Senators Unveil Bipartisan Drug Import Bill

Law360, New York (April 21, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of prominent U.S. Senators, including Republican John McCain of Arizona and Democrat Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, unveiled a proposal on Wednesday to legalize the importation of approved drugs from Canada and Europe.

The bill would legalize the importation of drug from Canada that have already been approved for use in the U.S. by the Food and Drug Administration.

The bill would not only permit individual orders for personal use, but would allow commercial importation as well, according to Senate aides.
