Importer Sues US Over Duties On Thai Vegetables

Law360, New York (November 12, 2009, 2:32 PM EST) -- A vegetable importer has filed suit against the United States in the U.S. Court of International Trade, challenging the government's 11.2 percent ad valorem duty rate on vegetable imports from Thailand.

R.T. Foods Inc., headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., lodged its six-page complaint Wednesday after U.S. Customs and Border Protection denied its prior protest of the rate, arguing that the imports should be duty-free because the products do not significantly change once in the U.S.
