EU To Meet Kyoto Reduction Goals: Report

Law360, New York (November 12, 2009, 5:33 PM EST) -- The European Union is set to meet its goal of reducing emissions to fulfill its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol, according to a report the European Commission released Thursday as the Copenhagen climate conference to negotiate a replacement treaty approaches.

The annual progress report shows that the 15 nations that were members of the now-27-country bloc when the Kyoto treaty was signed should hit the target of reducing emissions by 8 percent of their 1990 levels for 2008 to 2012. 10 of the other 12 members...
