Perkins Coie Atty Named Top White House Counsel

Law360, New York (November 13, 2009, 1:38 PM EST) -- White House officials announced Friday that Gregory B. Craig has stepped down as chief presidential counsel and will be replaced by the end of the year by longtime Democratic lawyer and Perkins Coie LLP partner Robert Bauer.

Craig, who has only been in the top White House legal post since the Obama administration took office in January, said that he plans to return to private practice effective Jan. 3, 2010.
