Railroads' Counterclaim Tossed In Maine Enviro Suit

Law360, New York (November 13, 2009, 3:02 PM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed a counterclaim levied by two railroad companies against Frontier Communications Corp., which had sought to be reimbursed by the railroads for pollution at a gas plant in Maine that was owned by a Frontier predecessor.

Judge George Singal of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine adopted the recommendations of a magistrate judge to toss the counterclaim on Thursday. Frontier sued the railroads and a number of other companies after it paid $7.6 million to clean up the site...
