Federal Circuit To Hear RIM Appeal On June 7

Law360, New York (April 22, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will hear the appeal in the closely observed dispute between Research in Motion and NTP over the patents covering Blackberry devices on June 7.

In what is probably the company’s last legal resort, RIM is appealing a district court judge's ruling that its technology infringes on NTP patents.

The five disputed patents relate to the use of radio frequency wireless communications in e-mail, core to the BlackBerry service, which provides remote access to e-mail and corporate data....
