Judge Backs Ariz. Utility's Bid For $345M Rate Hike

Law360, New York (November 18, 2009, 1:29 PM EST) -- An administrative law judge has recommended that the Arizona Corporation Commission approve a proposed $344.7 million rate increase by Arizona Public Service Co., a subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp., aimed at improving the electric utility's financial condition.

Administrative Law Judge Lyn Farmer issued an order Tuesday recommending that the state's utility regulator greenlight a settlement between APS and more than 20 others — including power companies, several unions, Arizona school officials and public interest groups — that would allow the rate hike.
