Union Sues Wis. Over Temporary Layoffs

Law360, New York (November 18, 2009, 4:34 PM EST) -- A Wisconsin union is asking a state court to block the state government from temporarily laying off its 1,100 members in an effort to trim cash from the state budget.

The State Engineering Union filed its lawsuit in Dane County Circuit Court on Tuesday, alleging the state scheme to temporarily lay off union members for nine consecutive days this fiscal year is illegal.
