Agriprocessors Exec Won't Face Immigration Charges

Law360, New York (November 19, 2009, 4:19 PM EST) -- A federal judge granted prosecutors' request Thursday to dismiss 72 immigration charges against Sholom Rubashkin, the former CEO of Agriprocessors Inc., the kosher slaughterhouse in Iowa that was raided by federal immigration authorities last year.

Chief Judge Linda Read of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa dismissed the charges days after a jury convicted Rubashkin of 86 financial fraud charges. With Rubashkin facing hundreds of years in prison, prosecutors said pursuing the immigration charges was unnecessary.
