Law Departments Get Creative To Rein In Costs: Survey

Law360, New York (November 19, 2009, 5:22 PM EST) -- From chopping travel budgets and pushing rate freezes to implementing layoffs and salary reductions, law departments are experimenting with a wide range of cost-cutting measures to keep afloat, according to a new survey.

On Thursday, Hildebrandt released its 2009 Law Department Survey, which analyzed data on in-house legal department cost control measures from 231 participants.

Survey participants represent 21 industries and 22 percent of the companies on the Fortune 500 list, Hildebrandt, a division of Thomson Reuters, reported.
