Synergetics Starts A Battle In Eye Surgery Patent War

Law360 (November 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- As eye surgery rivals continue to lob legal accusations at one another, Missouri-based Synergetics Inc. has filed a new lawsuit against Peregrine Surgical Ltd. alleging the company has infringed a patent by using stolen proprietary information.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, alleges that Peregrine has infringed its patent for membrane erasers used in ophthalmic surgery.

The suit alleges that Pennsylvania-based Peregrine, which sells and makes medical equipment, has known about the infringement since early 2002....
