Medical Device Co. Pokes Bayer With Suit Over Lancets

Law360, New York (November 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A North Miami, Fla.-based medical device maker has stuck Bayer Healthcare LLC with a patent infringement suit over lancet technology for patients with diabetes.

Stat Medical Devices Inc. filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida last week, alleging that Bayer violated its patent for a reusable lancet device, which is used to collect blood samples from the fingertip and monitor blood glucose.
