Gov't Refunds Liz Claiborne In Duties Settlement

Law360, New York (November 24, 2009, 12:35 PM EST) -- Liz Claiborne Inc. has settled an international trade suit over a U.S. Bureau of Customs classification of clothing made of lyocell that the women's retailer alleged resulted in excess tariffs on some of its imports.

The agreement, approved Thursday by Judge Delissa A. Ridgway in the U.S. Court of International Trade, provided that Liz Claiborne would accept refunds from the government to settle the lawsuit and in return would accept the Customs classification that it had originally disputed.
