Unpaid Premium Frees State Farm In Auto Crash Case

Law360, New York (November 24, 2009, 12:56 PM EST) -- A South Carolina appeals court has decided in an en banc ruling that State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is not required to provide coverage for a car accident that occurred after the policyholder was mailed a notification that his policy would be canceled.

In its amended 7-2 ruling filed Friday, the Court of Appeals of South Carolina also found the accident was not covered even though a State Farm employee told the policyholder that State Farm would take care of the accident.
