EU Pushes For Green Purchasing From Members

Law360, New York (November 25, 2009, 2:17 PM EST) -- The European Commission said Wednesday that it planned to urge public authorities throughout the European Union to transition to green public procurement practices and leverage their buying power to stimulate the market for green products.

Pavel Misiga, who heads the environment and industry unit within the EC's Directorate-General for Environment, vowed to highlight the opportunity authorities have to provide a boost for the market for sustainable products at the Nov. 26 conference, run by the Swedish EU presidency.
