DC Metro Pleads Guilty To Water Permit Violations

Law360, New York (November 25, 2009, 5:16 PM EST) -- Washington's transit authority has pled guilty to an allegation that it negligently discharged acidic water into the area's sewer sanitary system during a railcar washing operation in violation of the Clean Water Act.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority entered the guilty plea Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, where Judge Roger W. Titus ordered it to pay $200,000 for a misdemeanor violation of wastewater pretreatment rules.
