Japanese Officials Implicated In Bid-Rigging Scheme

Law360, New York (November 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Japanese police arrested ten people, including three government officials in Miyazaki, Japan on Thursday after investigating an alleged scheme to rig bids for a public works project.

Hiroshi Fujimoto, the head of Miyazaki’s public works department, and Yoshifumi Nihongi, president of Tokyo-based design consulting company Yamato Engineering Inc., were among those suspected of rigging bids for a project to design a bridge in 2005.
