Conservation Group Sues Over Pollutants In Va. River

Law360, New York (November 30, 2009, 6:30 PM EST) -- Nonprofit land conservation group Historic Green Springs Inc. and two Virginia residents have accused the Louisa County Water Authority of violating the Clean Water Act by illegally discharging pollutants into a Chesapeake Bay tributary.

The water authority violated its National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit for its Zion Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant by releasing excess amounts of phosphorous, E. coli, zinc, copper and other pollutants into Camp Creek, according to a complaint lodged Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia....
