EPA To Rule In 2010 On Raising Ethanol Blend Limit

Law360, New York (December 1, 2009, 6:36 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday it will decide in mid-2010 whether to raise the ethanol blending limit for gasoline to 15 percent, saying it needs to do more tests to see if engines can handle the increase.

In a letter to the biofuels industry group Growth Energy, the EPA said engineering studies so far indicated that 2001 and newer model vehicles will be able to handle the higher ethanol blend, but that the agency still needed to conduct additional studies.
