Perfect Web's Bulk E-Mail Patent Obvious: Fed. Circ.

Law360, New York (December 3, 2009, 2:22 PM EST) -- A federal appeals court has deemed Perfect Web Technology Inc.'s patent for methods of managing bulk e-mail distribution invalid due to obviousness, affirming a lower court's ruling that granted summary judgment to a competitor.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Wednesday affirmed the district court's decision to grant summary judgment to Perfect Web's competitor InfoUSA Inc. in a patent infringement suit, agreeing with the lower court that Perfect Web's asserted claims would have been obvious.
