1st Circ. Pares Mass. Cops' Title VII Suit

Law360, New York (December 4, 2009, 6:03 PM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit has ordered a lower court to dismiss discrimination claims against the Massachusetts state agency that administers promotional examinations for local police officers, ruling that the state's Human Resources Division does not constitute the officers' employer as defined under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
