Another Republican Vows To Block FDA Confirmation

Law360 (November 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Unhappy with his response to subpoenas, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee said he would block the confirmation of Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach as chairman of the Food and Drug Administration.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote in a Thursday letter to Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist that “the issues at stake are critically important.” Last May, Grassley wrote, the Senate Finance Committee issued two subpoenas to obtain access to FDA documents and an agency employee.
