Treasury Releases Data In Open Government Effort

Law360, New York (December 9, 2009, 5:58 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury is launching an open government effort to increase public access to its information, the department announced Wednesday.

The information-sharing plan is meant to be part of a commitment to increase transparency in government and maintain accountability of taxpayer dollars, the department said.

Treasury has compiled and will now make available new data on tax returns, more user-friendly information on transactions under the Troubled Asset Relief Program and a new report on bank trading and derivatives.
