Canada Supreme Court To Hear Lego Copyright Case

Law360, New York (April 30, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Canadian Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal by Danish toymaker Lego against Canadian rival Mega Bloks Inc. over alleged copyright infringements.

In its lawsuit against Mega Bloks, Lego claimed an injunction and damages against for allegedly passing off Mega Bloks toy brick products as those of Lego.

However, three Canadian have sided with Mega Bloks in the dispute until now. Last July, in a 2-1 split decision, the Federal Court of Appeal upheld a lower court's decision of May 2002.
