Law360, New York (December 15, 2009, 4:36 PM EST) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Window Covering Safety Council on Tuesday announced a massive recall of Roman shades and roll-up blinds sold by retail chains including Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and J.C. Penney Purchasing Corp., following the strangulation deaths of eight children.
The CPSC said that the recall includes all 50 million Roman shades and roll-up blinds on the market. About million Roman shades and about 3 million roll-up blinds are sold in the U.S. each year, according to the commission.
