Tenet Healthcare Settles Most Of Tax Case With IRS

Law360, New York (November 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hospital giant Tenet Healthcare Corporation has reached an $80 million settlement with the Internal Revenue Service after an audit of its tax returns, the company said Wednesday.

Tenet had said previously that the IRS issued a notice of tax deficiency in 2003 for the fiscal years 1995 through 1997. The company had filed a petition to contest the alleged deficiency in U.S. Tax Court.

The company will pay the settlement during the fourth quarter of 2006, and has said it will not have a material impact...
