Pfizer Sues Websites for Selling Illegal Lipitor Generic

Law360, New York (May 5, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pfizer has sued five internet sites for selling an unapproved copy of cholesterol drug Lipitor, close on the heels of a similar lawsuit filed in April.

The suits were filed in U. S. district courts in Delaware and Connecticut against Generic Lipitors (www.genericlipitors.com), Online Rx DrugStore (www.onlinerxdrugstore.com), WorldMedsRX (www.worlmedsrx.com), B. M. International (www.b-m-international.com), and Offshore Pharma (www.offshorepharma.com).

The sites market a product called "Storvas," which is advertised as being manufactured by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. of India.

Storvas is made by Ranbaxy and sold legally in India....
