Mumbai Court Bars Foreign Law Firms From India

Law360 (December 17, 2009, 4:46 PM EST) -- A high court in Mumbai has ruled that India's central bank may not license foreign law firms whose members do not belong to the nation's bar councils, even if they act in an advisory capacity only — a blow to New York-based law firms White & Case LLP and Chadbourne & Parke LLP, as well as London-based Ashurst LLP.
