TreeHouse To Swallow Sturm Foods For $660M

Law360, New York (December 21, 2009, 2:25 PM EST) -- In an effort to better corner the private label food and beverage market, TreeHouse Foods Inc. said Monday that it would buy Sturm Foods Inc., a private label manufacturer of hot cereal and powdered soft drink mixes, in a transaction valued at $660 million.

TreeHouse, a food manufacturer based in Westchester, Ill., will buy Sturm from private equity firm HM Capital Partners LLC, which acquired the company in 2005.

TreeHouse plans to fund the purchase with $400 million in new debt, $100 million in new stocks...
