Whirlpool Hit With $1M Judgment In Title VII Case

Law360, New York (December 22, 2009, 6:52 PM EST) -- Whirlpool Corp. was hit on Tuesday with a $1 million judgment in favor of Carlota Freemen, a former employee who accused the company of failing to respond adequately to a co-worker's campaign of harassment that culminated in an assault that left Freemen with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Judge John T. Nixon of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee handed down a 31-page memorandum awarding Freemen $1,073,261 — $773,261 for front and back pay and $300,000 in compensatory damages.
