AstraZeneca Unit Pulls H1N1 Vaccines

Law360, New York (December 23, 2009, 6:28 PM EST) -- A unit of AstraZeneca PLC has recalled doses of its nasal spray H1N1 vaccine because tests showed a decline in potency, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

The CDC said Tuesday that 13 batches containing about 4.7 million doses of MedImmune LLC's nasal spray monovalent 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine are not as strong as desired.

Most doses were shipped to vaccine providers in October and early November. MedImmune is recalling any doses that may still be unused, the CDC said.
