E.U. To Fine Rubber Cartel On Wednesday: Report

Law360, New York (November 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission is expected to impose its second-highest antitrust fine in history on Wednesday against a cartel that allegedly fixed prices in the rubber market, according to a published report.

The fine will be leveled against Shell, Dow Chemical, Eni, Unipetrol and Trade-Stomil, while Germany’s Bayer will be exempted due to its cooperation under the cartel leniency program, Reuters reported, citing a “draft seen by Reuters.”
