FDA To Study Drug Safety For Pregnant Women, Fetuses

Law360, New York (January 6, 2010, 3:59 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has launched a new program to fund research on the effects of women's prescription drug use during pregnancy on both mothers and fetuses, the agency said.

The agency announced the Medication Exposure in Pregnancy Risk Evaluation Program on Monday, explaining that the program will be a collaborative effort between the FDA and researchers in the private sector.
