NALP Calls For Changes To Recruitment Schedule

Law360, New York (January 8, 2010, 5:19 PM EST) -- Significant changes need to be made to the schedule law firms use for law student recruiting in order to better reflect the changing needs of both students and firms, the National Association for Law Placement has recommended.

The NALP's commission on recruiting in the legal profession released a preliminary report Thursday suggesting that law firms shift away from rolling-offer deadlines. For second-year law students being recruited for summer associate positions, an “offer kickoff day” should be established in January before which no offers can be extended,...
