DOE Rolls Out New Energy-Saving Rules On Washers

Law360, New York (January 8, 2010, 4:17 PM EST) -- New U.S. Department of Energy conservation standards on clothes washers are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and offset expected spikes in the machines' costs by providing consumers with savings on energy expenses, the department said Friday.

In a final rule published in the Federal Register, the DOE said that the new standards applied to all commercial clothes washers sold in the United States starting Jan. 8, 2013.
