License Deal Ends IP Spat Between Caliper, BD

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 5:38 PM EST) -- Medical technology company Becton Dickinson and Co. has acquired a license to the microfluidics patent portfolio of Caliper Life Sciences Inc., ending intellectual property litigation between the firms over technologies concerning real-time amplification of small pieces of DNA for research purposes.

Caliper, whose microfluidic, or “lab-on-a-chip,” technologies allow researchers to control minute amounts of fluids contained in glass or plastic chips, announced the licensing agreement Monday.
