Consumer Groups, AAI Push Pay-For-Delay Ban

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 6:55 PM EST) -- The American Antitrust Institute, together with a coalition of consumer groups, is urging lawmakers to include a ban on pay-for-delay pharmaceutical patent settlements in the final version of health care reform legislation.

In a letter sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Monday, the groups argue that banning the exclusion payments, coupled with an effort to revise the incentive structures for generic drugmakers, would help make prescription drugs more affordable.
