Court Brings Suit Against Blue Cross Back To Life

Law360, New York (November 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Independence Blue Cross is in hot water over its surplus once again, with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court reinstating a case that called the health insurer’s excess income into question given its nonprofit status and skyrocketing premium costs.

Last week, Pennsylvania’s highest court reversed a December 2002 Commonwealth Court decision, reviving a battle that had long been dead.
