Entergy, Insurer Sue Army In Katrina Negligence Suit

Law360, New York (January 14, 2010, 8:17 PM EST) -- Entergy Corp. and its insurer have fired off another suit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, alleging the Corps’ negligent construction of levees and canals was to blame for the widespread damage to New Orleans’ utility infrastructure when Hurricane Katrina swept through the city in August 2005.

Entergy, its subsidiaries and Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. are looking to recover monetary damages, including the $69.5 million that the insurer paid to Entergy for a portion of the losses of assets, according to the...
