Senate GOP Slams Mountaintop Mine Permit Veto

Law360, New York (January 15, 2010, 1:56 PM EST) -- Republicans on the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee have issued a report attacking what they call the Obama administration's attempts to “obstruct, delay and shutter” surface coal mining operations in Appalachia.

The report, released Thursday by EPW ranking member Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., accuses U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials of a 180-degree regulatory reversal in its policy on permits for surface coal mining operations.
