Clifford May Scrap Fired Partner Appeal Rights

Law360, New York (January 21, 2010, 6:45 PM EST) -- Management at Clifford Chance LLP reportedly has proposed changes to make it easier to fire lackluster partners and has plans to slim down its partnership council.

Mike Kachel, Clifford Chance's U.S. spokesman, confirmed Thursday that the firm had sent a proposal to all its partners listing a number of recommendations that would “streamline” the firm's governance.

He declined to go into specifics and added that Clifford Chance had no plans to make any “fundamental” changes to the overall management of the firm or its partnership....
