Allegheny Drilling Decision Appealed To 3rd Circ.

Law360, New York (January 21, 2010, 1:03 PM EST) -- Several environmental groups headlined by the Sierra Club have appealed a district court decision voiding a settlement they reached with the U.S. Forest Service that requires oil and gas companies to submit to an environmental impact analysis before drilling in the Allegheny National Forest.

The Sierra Club, Allegheny Defense Project and Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics, the nongovernmental defendants in the dispute, served notice Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania of their intention to appeal.
