French Railway Unit Wins EU Approval To Buy Ermewa

Law360, New York (January 25, 2010, 3:47 PM EST) -- A unit of the French national railway has received clearance from European competition regulators to purchase Financiere Ermewa following its agreement to divest some of the Swiss railcar leasing company's activities in Europe.

The European Commission said Friday that Transport et Logistique Partenaires SA, which is owned by French national railway SNCF, would need to divest Ermewa's European activities in leasing axial hopper freight cars for cereal transportation and its involvement in organizing the transport of cereal by rail.
