Ohio High Court Upholds Gas Fixed-Cost Increase

Law360, New York (January 27, 2010, 5:29 PM EST) -- The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld natural gas distribution rate changes authorized for Duke Energy Ohio Inc. and Dominion East Ohio that increase by several times the amount the companies charge consumers for fixed costs.

On Tuesday, the high court ruled against consumer advocacy groups including the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel and Ohio Partners for Affordable Energy, which had alleged that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's authorization of the rate increases was unlawful and unreasonable.
