Vale Adds Bunge Brazilian Fertilizer Mines For $3.8B

Law360, New York (January 27, 2010, 1:22 PM EST) -- Mining giant Vale S.A. on Wednesday agreed to purchase Bunge Ltd.'s fertilizer nutrients operations in Brazil for $3.8 billion in an all-cash deal.

As part of the transaction, Vale will acquire Bunge's 42.3 percent interest in Fertilizantes Fosfatados S.A., better known as Fosfertil, as well as Bunge's wholly owned Brazilian phosphate mines and distribution facilities.

After taxes and transaction fees, Bunge said, the total transaction value would be about $3.5 billion.
