Indoor Tanning Group Settles With FTC Over False Ads

Law360, New York (January 27, 2010, 2:09 PM EST) -- The Indoor Tanning Association has agreed to settle claims that it misled consumers about indoor tanning dangers, and will include warnings with some of its future advertisements, the Federal Trade Commission has said.

The ITA also agreed to stop promoting indoor tanning as a healthful alternative to tanning outdoors, since it in fact increases the risk of squamous cell and melanoma skin cancer, the FTC said in a Tuesday announcement.
